Let me start at the beginning, I'm Mandy, I live in Oklahoma and I have a musician husband and two gorgeous daughters! I am photographer and domestic diva!
We moved into our house almost 5 years ago. My husband and I had been married for about a year or so and had lived in a townhouse for the first year of marriage. That townhouse was an interesting experience. It kept flooding, had mice and we lived two doors down from someone that I was sure was stalking me! Anyway, we were so glad to move out and buy our own home. Here's a picture of us on moving day:
The house was built in 1976 and it around 1400 sq. ft. with three bedrooms and two baths. Here's some of the before pictures of the kitchen:
Here's a shot of my hubs getting rid of the nasty floor. It was a tough job, that stuff was really stuck on good! As you can see I had already painted the walls a taupe color called Sauteed Mushroom and had already painted most of the cabinets. I think that one cabinet door below the sink was missing for months.
Here's a picture of the finished cabinets. Better than all the dark wood, but then I started thinking that it was too much white. So I looked online at some inexpensive backsplash ideas. Someone had put wallpaper up over laminate and glued it on and I thought that sounded cheap and easy!
Here's how the wallpaper backsplash looks. Much better in my opinion! I got the wallpaper that looks like tile so it's kind of an optical illusion!
Here's how the sink area looks after the backsplash was applied.
Kitchen redo, to be continued!
